Film Synopsis
A strange prehistoric beast lurks in the depths of the Amazonian jungle. A group of scientists try to capture the animal and bring it back to civilization for study.
Remnants of a mysterious animal have come to light in a remote jungle, and a group of scientists intends to determine if the find is an anomaly or evidence of an undiscovered beast. To accomplish their goal, the scientists (Antonio Moreno, Richard Carlson, Richard Denning, Whit Bissell) must brave the most perilous stretches of land South America has to offer. But the terrain is nothing compared to the danger posed by an otherworldly being that endangers their work and their lives.
About the Speaker
Dr. Joan Hawkins is an associate professor in the Media School at Indiana University. She was working toward her PhD is in comparative literature, before turning her focus to film. With an interest in feminist cinema and horror, her dissertation was on the intersection of horror, European art cinema, and the avant-garde. Her sub-discipline is known as taste politics and taste cultures, examining the way notions of taste (good and bad) are constructed.
