Salina Art Center
The Salina Art Center is a nonprofit organization founded in 1978 in Salina, Kansas, and is governed by a board of trustees. Its mission is to create exchanges among art, artists, and audiences that reveal life. In its 38-year history, the Salina Art Center has forged a reputation as an exemplary institution providing meaningful exchanges through experiences, including classes and workshops, and discussions of contemporary exhibitions and thought-provoking films. These exchanges generate a broad range of educational experiences for learners of every age from local, national, and international voices and subject matter.
The campus of the Art Center consists of three distinct facilities. The Galleries, which house our education wing, exhibition area, and administrative offices; the Warehouse, a studio space with an apartment that provides space for our artist-in-residence program, which allows us to bring national and international artists to the community; and the Art Center Cinema.
Open 364 days a year, the Art Center Cinema is dedicated to providing access to quality films. Since it opened in 1997, a cinema committee has selected first-run contemporary, independent, award-winning, American and international documentary and feature films, many of which are paired with topic discussions led by speakers chosen for their expertise in that topic area.
